Grace Community Church is a small and growing church focused on resting in God’s grace, being a family of grace and extending grace to the communities in which we live and work.
Started as a church plant roughly seven years ago, Grace Community is passionate about worshiping and enjoying God as sons & daughters of The Most High King, being brothers & sisters to one another and acting as disciples & agents who build Jesus’ kingdom in Chapel Hill, Carrboro and Durham, NC. For us, being on mission to proclaim the good news that Jesus is Lord means vibrant corporate worship, preaching of the gospel, weekly receiving the Lord’s Supper, loving each other, loving our neighbor and sharing the good news with nonbelievers. We see serving the poor, the widow and the fatherless as central to our mission and, having a strong heart for seeing transformational change happen within our cities, we strive to be involved in the process of healing broken communities.
We are a theologically and politically diverse congregation. Membership is comprised largely of young professionals with growing families as well as a diverse crowd of students and older, more established families. We seek to be explicitly grace-centered and to provide a safe place for broken people to struggle and to heal. Grace Community is more process- and people-oriented than program-oriented. We value hospitality and opening our homes and our lives to each other and to our neighbors. We seek a deeper knowledge of God in the face of Jesus Christ, a deeper knowledge of Scripture and of the mission that God has given us.
We are a member of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA).
Worship Service
Please note that on Sunday, January 29th, we will not be meeting at the Century Center. Instead, we will meet at 10 am at the home of Bobby and Lois Suruki (7 Zumwalt Ct; Durham, NC 27703) and 4 pm at the home of Steve and Jeannie Cox (3 Bartram Drive; Chapel Hill, NC 27517). This will be a regular worship service, but with an additional time and new locations. We are in the need of two or three volunteers to help with childcare at the 10am service.
